Road to the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025: Team Malaysia- Open Water Swimming

Malaysia Aquatics (MAS) is proud to announce the national Open Water Swimming team who will represent the country at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games 2025, to be held in Pinnacle Grand Jomtien, Pattaya, Thailand from 18–20 December 2025.

A total of 4 athletes have been selected following a rigorous evaluation of performances across domestic and international competitions from January 2024 to August 2025. The athletes are making their maiden appearance at these Games and  will be competing in the 10KM and in the mixed relay of 4x.1.5KM over the week. 

Our athletes are Lim Kai Yi, Magdalene Lau, Thong Zhen Ning and Ashley Soh.

The swimmers will be accompanied by an experienced team of officials led by Team Manager Angelia Ong and Coaches, Mr. Albert Yeap and Mr. Kevin Yeap

With Open Water Swimming (marathon swimming) making its return to the SEA Games as a compulsory aquatic sport, our young athletes are leading the charge towards our nation’s continued growth as an aquatic powerhouse. 

The contingent will depart Kuala Lumpur on 16 December, with open water swimming events scheduled from 18–20 December in Pattaya, before returning home on 21 December.

Malaysia Aquatics invites all Malaysians to rally behind our national open water swimming team as they chase the waves in Pattaya this December!
