[News] MAS to Host Two Major Aquatic Events in 2026

Malaysia will stage two significant youth aquatic championships in 2026, reinforcing its growing presence in the regional and continental sports landscape.

The country will host the Asian Water Polo Championships (U18) for the first time, running 9–15 March 2026 at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil. The meet serves as Asia’s qualifying event for the World Aquatics U18 Championships and is expected to draw the region’s strongest youth teams.

Malaysia has also been awarded the 48th SEA Age Group Aquatic Championships, which will feature four disciplines—swimming, water polo, diving, and artistic swimming—marking another first for the nation.

Malaysia Aquatics says hosting both events reflects its push to strengthen development pathways and expand competitive exposure for young athletes across Asia and Southeast Asia.

Further details will be released in the coming months.
